Pet equipment such as kennels, reptile enclosures, and birdhouses can be bulky and dull. One way to spruce them up is with paint. Unfortunately, many paints contain toxic chemicals and heavy fumes that can be dangerous for our pets. That’s where ECOS Paints come in.

ECOS Paints provides a safe way to add a fun pop of color to pet dwellings without compromising your beloved pets’ health and well-being.

What Is ECOS Paint? How Does It Work?

ECOS Paints is a premium paint company that has been pioneering and leading the industry for over 35 years. The company was founded with safety in mind, and all its formulas have been created from scratch and omit toxic ingredients. ECOS is well-known for creating paints that are safe for people with chemical sensitivities, children, and pets.

Along with its safe formulas, ECOS also strives to ensure that its paints are durable and long-lasting. The company spent over 6 years doing research and testing its paints in various climates before introducing them to the market. Today, you can find paints for all kinds of surfaces both indoors and outdoors.

While ECOS products tend to be more expensive than paints from other brands, they have exceptional coverage, and a gallon of paint will go a long way. You’re also paying for a safer painting experience, and you don’t have to worry about your pets’ safety throughout the entire process.

I’ve sampled and tested out ECOS Paint’s Eggshell Pet Dwellings Paint. So, if you’re a pet owner and are planning to paint your walls or furniture sometime soon, this review will help you determine if ECOS is right for you.

Where to Get ECOS Paints

ECOS sells its products exclusively online through its company website and a limited selection of online retailers. Major home improvement stores do not carry ECOS paints. Fortunately, ECOS has paint swatches and 2-ounce samples that you can order and test out before purchasing a quart or gallon of paint.

Non-Toxic Paint

ECOS creates all of its paints using non-toxic ingredients. You won’t find any harsh chemicals found in common paints that are responsible for oral toxicity, skin irritation, and respiratory issues. All paints have zero volatile organic compounds (VOC), which are chemicals that evaporate and lower air quality. They also don’t emit a polyurethane odor that causes headaches, nausea, and respiratory problems.

Transparent Ingredient List

ECOS is very transparent about the materials and ingredients it uses in its paints. You can find complete ingredient lists for each type of paint on its website, along with supporting documents that give you more than enough information on the paint ingredients.

All of ECOS’ paints are water-based and conform to ASTM D4236, ASTM E544, and ASTM MNL13. These codes indicate that the paints have been approved and found in compliance with ASTM International’s safety standards.

Strict Return & Exchange Policy

Because ECOS paints are all made to order, the company has a strict return policy. The orders can’t be canceled once they’ve been produced, and ECOS won’t accept any returns. All sales are final, and ECOS doesn’t provide exchanges unless there has been damage to the product during shipping and delivery. If a product has not been received, you may be able to request a replacement or earn store credit.

Is ECOS Paint a Good Value?

While ECOS Paint is more expensive than other paint brands, it offers high-quality paints that are both durable and have long-lasting, beautiful colors. A little paint goes a long way, and you don’t have to worry about spending more time and money on painting over uneven coats of paint.

ECOS paints are also safe to use for pet dwellings and furniture as long as the paint isn’t consistently or permanently in contact with water. So, you’re essentially paying for a safe painting process and protecting your pets from harmful and toxic chemicals and inhalants.

Our Experience with Lullaby Paint by ECOS

I tested out the ECOS Eggshell Pet Dwellings Paint in Egg Blue. The shipment arrived in a very well-packaged box with padding and a heat pack. When I opened the paint can, I was preparing myself to be met with a strong chemical odor. However, I was immediately surprised by how this one barely had a scent.

I applied the first coat of paint on a white wooden board. The paint had a good consistency, and I didn’t need to use very much of it. The single coat was just a shade lighter than the color on the color swatch and had just a little bit of uneven coverage. It didn’t take too much time for the paint to dry, and a second coat of paint corrected everything. The shade ended up being true to its color swatch, and I didn’t have to add another layer of paint.

What I appreciated most about painting with this ECOS paint is that while it did emit some smells, it was significantly less than other paints, and I wasn’t bothered by it. All I really had to worry about was keeping my dog away from the furniture I was painting so that she wouldn’t get any on her and track paint all over the house. I just kept a gate between us so that she could still see me, and I didn’t have to worry about any odors affecting her and making her feel sick.

Conclusion

ECOS Paints is an excellent option for any pet owners that are planning to repaint their homes or furniture. The paints are on the pricier end, but they’re a good value due to their quality and safety. You won’t have to worry about any of your pets inhaling any harmful chemicals, and painting will be a headache-free experience for you as well.
